Toccare il cielo con un dito / To touch the sky with a finger (Atina)

200 hand-annotated photocopies
Lumen prints mounted on paper with ink, prayer candle, holy water

Produced during Lumen Residency 2015
Exhibited in Lumen, Chiesa San Francesco, Atina, Italy

Photocopies of lumen prints (photograms exposed by sunlight) with 4 alternating messages translated from a pop song were posted by hand in letterboxes around the town at dawn. That evening at sunset, the original lumen prints were installed at the town church on the holy water basin, illuminated by a candle positioned in the middle of the water basin. The flame and its reflection drew closer and closer together, only to be extinguished by itself upon reaching the water.

Ti rendi conto
(Do you realise)
That you have the most beautiful face?
We're floating in space?
That happiness makes you cry?
That everyone you know someday will die?
That the sun doesn't go down, it's just an illusion caused by the world spinning around.
